The Climate Savings Book project
A handbook of climate-saving tips for students in Hamburg
The Climate Savings Book for students in Hamburg (Klimasparbuch für Studierende in Hamburg) was developed under the aegis of the HaHoNa, which also initiated the project. This handy green guide is full of tips for reducing greenhouse gases in everyday life and shows students how they can eat, shop, live, and commute in Hamburg in a climate-friendly and sustainable way—and in many cases, for less money! The Climate Savings Book also has tips on excursions to beautiful places near Hamburg, many of which are easy to reach by bike, as well as addresses, dates and times for organic farmers’ markets, organic shops, swaps, and repair cafés. Finally, the Climate Savings Book contains coupons (with discounts) for organic products and climate-friendly services in and near Hamburg.
The first edition of the Climate Savings Book appeared at the beginning of the 2016/17 Winter Semester. The second, revised version with new entries and tips appeared a year later, at the beginning of the 2017/18 Winter Semester.
The project is funded from the City of Hamburg’s climate protection budget, and the book is published by the Ministry of Environment and Energy and oekom e.V., an association for ecological communications
